Sustainability & Luxury: Hand in Glove

Silk is the only natural fibre that produces more oxygen than it consumes, and mulberry trees - where our silk is derived - contribute towards carbon neutrality. These trees don’t need harmful chemicals or pesticides to thrive. This is one of the reasons this silk was selected as the medium for sharing Kathy’s art and your stories.

Our collection of 100% pure silk scarves are sourced from the only Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified and organic silk supplier in the UK.

We live our values

Your scarf is made without harmful chemicals, where 100% of the water used is drawn from our partner’s very own reservoir, which contains no chlorine, chloramines, mercury, VOC’s, pharmaceuticals, herbicides or pesticides.

Our partners align to our ethos of fairness and accountability. Our production processes are stringently monitored to ensure that our products are produced ethically, and in fair working conditions.

What’s included?

Design and produce your very own exclusive, made to order 100% silk scarf.

  • Based upon our 1:1 consultation (via zoom, a cup of coffee or a cocktail), I shall mock up the scarf design for your review.

You can touch and have a look at the fabric and finish of the silk sample. I will create a design specifically for you on my iPad or sketch it out on paper.

Once you approve your design, I’ll draw and hand paint your scarf design on archival Arches watercolour paper.

Your final artwork will then be sent to my silk scarf manufacturing partner for production.

I will guide you through the whole process regarding selecting your scarf size, icon/theme placement, background, colour ways, and finishing.

  • Your finished scarf will be completed in approximately 8 weeks in the size of your choice: (45 x 45, 90 x 90, 135 x 135 - all sizes are approximate as your scarf is hand finished).

Your scarf is hand sewn and printed on luxurious 100% silk twill (this is the same type of silk quality used by designer luxury fashion houses).

I have reviewed and compared silk from Europe, the UK, India and China and selected this Mulberry silk from our GOTS-certified partner.

  • Your silk twill scarf will be packaged in a luxury book style box with a ribbon closure for safe storage. It will wrapped in specially selected archival acid-free paper to help preserve it for years to come. This luxury box is certified to the highest industry standards for sustainability and having a low carbon footprint.

I suggest you store the scarf in this box to protect and maintain its shape when it is not being worn. Should you choose to dispose of the box, it is biodegradable, compostable, recyclable, made from recycled materials and sustainably sourced.

  • You will receive a ‘How To’ Guide on wearing your new artwork.

  • We can create anything, together.

Kathy hand paints clothing, stationery - you name it. You have the option of having your artwork transformed into stationery, fabric and more.
