Wear your story
What does ‘Wear your story’ mean, exactly? Meet my client and art she has commissioned that she can wear. This is a very personal and one of a kind piece of art for an incredible, unique and inspiring individual.
I am honoured to create it and to have her as a patron for my art practice. Discover how we collaborated to create this piece of art for her, based upon her work and travel experiences.
This scarf features drawn freehand and hand painted iconography to represent my client’s travels and work, inspiration that includes Asia and the Middle East, Mount Everest, and the ocean. She took a year-long sabbatical to tour the world and she works primarily in the Middle East and Asia. We went for a hike, had a coffee and chatted about her styling and wardrobe, where I gently guided her through the design process.
We selected themes, colour ways and items from her experiences and a life well lived — and incorporated the practicalities of her wardrobe — to create a ready to wear silk scarf.
The process for creating a piece is just as rewarding as the final product, as I get to know my clients in a genuine and meaningful way.
